Pan Jamboree:

Held every year the Sunday before Memorial Day, the Pan Jamboree is recognized as one of the biggest and best events for steelband music on the east coast. The Jamboree is a day-long festival featuring performances from both local and out-of-town steelbands in a non-competitive, family-friendly atmosphere.  Local food and craft vendors will also add to the festivities.

Junior Pan Solo Competition:

Designed to encourage and showcase the talents of young pan players, the competition is open to pannists 18 years and younger. Prizes and trophies are offered in several age categories.

The 2008 Competition will be co-presented with the Cultural Academy For Excellence, and will be held on August 16 at the First United Methodist Church in Hyattsville, MD.  More details on registration to be posted shortly.

Calypso Competition:

With humble beginnings as improvised fun in "De Panyard," this event (now known as the DC Calypso Monarch Competition) is a regular and anticipated event in the DC Carnival season. The competition now draws professional participants from far and wide, who sing their own calypso compositions. This is DC's version of the famous "calypso tents" in Trinidad & Tobago.

The 2008 Semi-Finals will be held Friday June 6, and the Finals will be held Friday June 20.  Both rounds will be held at De Panyard (4559 Rhode Island Ave, North Brentwood MD) and start time is 9:00 PM.
